Variable Face Thickness Technology allows Callaway to cast the Hawkeye VFT titanium clubface thicker in the centre and ultra thin around the edges.
The non-conforming Callaway ERC II driver might garner all of the press, but the Callaway vft woods, actually deserves to be grabbing the headlines. The Callaway vft plays very long, is reasonably forgiving and completely guilt-free.
VFT stands for Variable Face Thickness. The Callaway Steelhead Plus, introduced a year ago, has it. The ERC II, made of forged beta titanium, has it. And now the Hawkeye, made of cast titanium, has it.
VFT allows Callaway to take mass out of the face and reposition it in the form of a weight chip in the sole of the wood, changing the centre of gravity to optimise the launch angle, spin rate and forgiveness of the driver for longer and straighter drives. The Callaway vft driver has got a 300cc head and a very deep clubface.
